Glazed Apple Bites (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Apple Bites

01 - 1/4 cup granulated sugar
02 - 1 large egg
03 - 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
04 - 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
05 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - 2 teaspoons baking powder
07 - 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
08 - 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
09 - 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
10 - 1 1/2 cups finely chopped apples (Honeycrisp or Gala work great, about 2 medium)

→ Cider Glaze

11 - 2 cups powdered sugar
12 - 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons apple juice or cider

# Instructions:

01 - Fire up your oven to 400°F. Lightly coat your baking pan with nonstick spray to keep things from sticking.
02 - In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt, and give it a good stir until evenly combined.
03 - In a larger bowl, mix melted butter with sugar. Toss in your egg, vanilla, and applesauce. Keep whisking until everything feels smooth and velvety.
04 - Add your dry mix into the wet one, mixing just until they're combined—stop once it comes together! Carefully fold in those chopped apples.
05 - Scoop spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared tray, spacing them out. Pop it in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
06 - While you wait, whisk the powdered sugar with apple cider or juice until it's smooth and pourable.
07 - Once they're out, switch your oven to broil mode. Brush the freshly baked bites with some glaze and broil for 2-4 minutes, rotating as needed until it bubbles. Pour the rest of the glaze and let it set for 15 minutes before you serve.

# Notes:

01 - Best enjoyed fresh the same day for the glaze texture
02 - Dice apples into small pieces for better texture
03 - Keep an eye while broiling—don’t let them burn!
