Cheesy Patty Sandwich (Printable Version)

Juicy patties and gooey cheese layered on buttery rye bread with a creamy sauce that'll make your mouth water.

# What You'll Need:

→ The Sandwich Setup

01 - 6 slices of Provolone cheese
02 - 6 slices of cheddar cheese
03 - 6 slices of rye bread
04 - 6 tablespoons of softened butter

→ For the Beef Mixture

05 - 1 pound of ground beef
06 - 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
07 - 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
08 - 3/4 teaspoon of black pepper

→ The Tasty Sauce

09 - 1 teaspoon of sweet relish
10 - 1 teaspoon of sugar
11 - 2 tablespoons of ketchup
12 - 3 tablespoons of mayo
13 - 1 tablespoon of bacon bits

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Grab the rye bread slices and coat one side of each with butter. Put them aside for now.
02 - Combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, and onion powder in a bowl, then mix well. Shape into three patties, sizing them to fit your bread shape.
03 - Warm a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 2-3 minutes each side. Lower the heat and let them cook another 5 minutes, making sure they hit 160°F (71°C) inside.
04 - In a small bowl, mix together mayo, ketchup, bacon bits, sweet relish, and sugar, stirring until smooth.
05 - Heat another skillet over medium-low. Place bread butter-side down in the pan, add two slices of cheddar, a cooked patty, and two slices of Provolone. Spread the sauce on the plain side of another bread slice and press it sauce-side down on top.
06 - Cook each sandwich for 2-3 minutes on both sides so the cheese melts and the bread gets crispy. Repeat the process for the other sandwiches.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Check the patty temperature with a thermometer to confirm it reaches 160°F.
02 - The sauce has a sweet-tangy taste that resembles thousand island dressing.
03 - Rye bread is classic, but sourdough is a great alternative.
